About
The Odyssey
The Odyssey is a famous ancient Greek epic poem attributed to Homer. It tells the story of Odysseus, the King of Ithaca and his 10 year journey home after the Trojan war. The poem is known for it's adventure, encounters with mythical creatures, and exploration of themes like homecoming, identity and the human condition.

Odysseus's journey is long and arduous as he battles storms, monsters and faces many challenges along the way.

The spiritual elements to themes of this poem often refer to a transformative journey of self-discovery and enlightenment, mirroring the epic tale of Odysseus's return home. It signifies a quest for meaning, purpose, and ultimately, a return to ones true self, often involving trials, tribulations, and a deeper understanding of ones identity.
The core of the spiritual odyssey lies in the idea of returning to a place of belonging, both physically and spiritually.

Clients at Odyssey Counselling are therefore invited to embrace their inner Odysseus and embark upon a transformative, healing journey and return to a physically and spiritually safe place of belonging.

The Journey
I will conduct an Initial Consultation with any prospective client to ensure the best possible fit in terms of client - counsellor relations. It is important that any client the correct expertise and is comfortable working with me. The Initial Consultation process take approximately an hour and I recommend that any prospective client considers the circumstances surrounding their decision to seek help and what they are hoping to achieve from the process of Counselling ahead of this hour. We will then discuss the specifics and establish specific needs together. This hour is also an ideal opportunity to discuss any concerns about what's involved, or ask any questions.
Counselling involves a commitment to the work to achieve desired outcomes and whilst I encourage clients to commit to a minimum of four - six sessions before a check in, it is important we communicate and clients check in with me to let me know how they're doing and how they feel the sessions are going since valued time and money is being invested and it is important to get things right, make the right decisions, take the right approach from the get go, making any necessary adjustments or referrals as we go.
If we feel I am not able to help support adequately for whatever reason whether it be due to lack of specific expertise or simply because we are not the right fit then I can make recommendations for support and possible referrals to other more appropriate professionals or services where possible. This is something we would discuss, in detail, together.
